Viral Marketing is simply the concept of creating tools that help other people and which inspire them to refer the tool to their friends.
Viral Marketing takes advantage of the #1 All-Time Best and Cheapest form of advertising - Word of Mouth.
This is a great Viral Marketing tool that anyone can use. I got the idea from John Chow and adapted it to the Holistic/Green/Metaphysical market. It's simple and pain free and it can be a cut and paste operation that takes only a few minutes.
The idea is that you have a 'train' of links. You post the links on your blog, add up to 5 new links and pass it on and then other people will add YOUR links to their blog, add 5 new links and pass it on.
The more you pass it on the more back links you get.
But what about Google?
Some people are afraid that this tactic will cause problems with Google and lessen their search-ability in Google's system. It may or may not.
Google is only 1 of the 5 major search engines and the simple fact is that (in my opinion) you are better off getting the back links and traffic than trying to beat yourself up with building your site for Google optimization.
Below are the directions and the starter links. Give this tactic a try and see how it works. Be sure to email EVERYONE in your address book who has a Holistic Health, Metaphysical or Green blog and pass it on.

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. Just write a few sentences above the line that says '***Start copy here***'.
This isn't a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content string. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra linkback.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.
3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the "Originals" list.
4. Add no more than 5 new HOLISTIC HEALTH, GREEN, or NEW AGE/METAPHYSICAL blogs to the list in the "My Adds" section.
5. Pass this idea on to everyone you know who has a HOLISTIC HEALTH, GREEN, or NEW AGE/METAPHYSICAL blog.
6. Promote your new blog page with the Social Bookmarking strategy as well as submitting some articles about the link train.
